Katie Nielsen is an attorney based in Carthage, Panola County, Texas, and the sole proprietor of Katie Nielsen Law, P.L.L.C. Raised in a family of nine, Katie Nielsen learned early the value of hard work and personal responsibility. As a young girl, she worked in barns and stables to afford her riding lessons. She competed in hunter jumper events for more than 20 years, developing focus, resilience, and precision—traits that would later define her legal career. Those early mornings in the saddle taught her that preparation is not optional and that performance under pressure is earned long before the spotlight.

Her academic journey reflects that same drive. Katie Nielsen graduated magna cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with a double major in History and Political Science. While there, she distinguished herself in Moot Court competitions across Texas, earning multiple awards, including Top Oralist. Her professor, Dr. Donald Gregory, recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue law school, advising that Baylor Law School would provide the rigorous preparation she needed. He was right.

At Baylor Law School, Katie Nielsen earned the Abner V. McCall Evidence Award, a distinction that speaks to her command of courtroom rules and procedure. She won First Place regionally as a member of the Mock Trial team and graduated with a concentration in criminal law. Her training emphasized trial advocacy, strategic thinking, and disciplined legal analysis.

Professionally, Katie Nielsen has prosecuted cases in four Texas counties, gaining firsthand insight into the workings of the criminal justice system. The other half of her career has been devoted to private practice, where she has represented clients in criminal defense, general civil litigation, family law matters, probate proceedings, and trust and estate planning. This balanced experience—both prosecuting and defending—gives her a comprehensive understanding of litigation strategy, evidentiary standards, and courtroom dynamics.

As a sole practitioner, Katie Nielsen brings a personal, hands-on approach to every case. Her practice is rooted in careful legal research and thorough preparation. She is known for her ability to break down complex legal issues into clear, strategic steps.
